Taking a bath is one of my favourite self-care activities. It can also be a great way to support detoxification. I am a huge fan of Epsom Salts or Magnesium Flakes.
An Epsom Salts bath – named after the town of Epsom in Surrey, where it was originally prepared from the town’s mineral waters – is renowned for its healing properties and has been used as a therapeutic intervention for centuries.
Made from magnesium sulphate, these salts are a great way to soothe aching muscles, promote restful sleep and support the detoxification process.
Make the bath using 2 cups of the salts and take a bath for 20 to 30 minutes a couple of times a week to see the maximum benefit. Pour the salt into the stream of running water to dissolve it faster and so it mixes more fully.
You can buy the salts with added lavender or eucalyptus oils – or you can add a few drops of these essential oils yourself.
