Eating Out And Other Obstacles
This video goes through things to do if you come up against obstacles along the way
It’s day 6 of the programme. How are you feeling? Hopefully, any symptoms of a healing crisis have now passed.
Today, I’m talking about perfection. Let’s start with this: ‘Perfect’ doesn’t exist. It means different things to different people. It’s not one concrete thing to measure yourself against, and even if it were, would you want to?
So, things may crop up during this programme. Like social events. There will be those you can attend with no impact on your participation in this programme, and there will be others that you will have to make the best of if you can.
By making the best of it when eating out, try to choose those options that include veggie sources of protein or fish and have plenty of veggies or salad on the side. This is the ideal.
Sometimes this might not be possible, so it’s a good time to talk about the 80:20 rule. This is an acknowledgement that a little off-plan eating, under these circumstances, is not the end of the world. It does NOT mean that you have fallen off the wagon and might as well not bother anymore. It means that you ate away from home and had what was on offer. So, move on and eat according to your new way of eating again tomorrow.
There is just one caveat: know yourself. If you are an all-or-nothing person, if you know that having had chips once, you may never be able to get off them again, then perhaps don’t tempt fate.
