Beetroot is one of my favourite foods, and there is a lot to like about it. Since we’re talking all things detox during this programme, beetroot is a fabulous natural detoxifier and great for supporting liver health in general. One reason for this is that it contains betaine, which helps prevent excess fatty deposits in the liver and also helps break down toxins.

Other reasons you’ll want to get this superfood into your life is that beetroot is chock-full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants like vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, selenium, calcium and iron. Just the job for supporting the immune system. Beetroot also contains nitrates, which help relax blood vessels, improve blood flow, reduce blood pressure and even increase sporting performance.
