Welcome to Day 2 of the 14 days (video)- “The WHY of certain foods”

Welcome to Day 2 of the 14 day Detox Programme.

How did day 1 go for you? I’d love to hear what your favourite recipe was.
I often get asked about the ‘why’ of including and excluding certain foods.
Throughout this programme, we are focusing on eating delicious, real food. Ideally, you’ll want to buy organic fruit and veg because this avoids adding a side serving of pesticides. In your Detox Success Planner, you’ll find a list of the most heavily sprayed fruit and veg (aka The Dirty Dozen), which you’ll definitely want to buy organic.
I also recommend buying wild fish and organic chicken/ turkey during this programme. One of the main reasons for this is that you’re less likely to consume hormones used routinely in intensive farming.
There are some notable absences, so I want to talk about these, too.
Since we’re focussing on nourishing your body with real food, I want you to ditch any processed foods you might normally eat. You really will feel a huge difference!
Wheat, gluten and dairy are stressors to the body. So is sugar and those refined foods. All are additionally inflammatory. One of the benefits of doing the work you’re doing here is that the body gets a break, giving it a chance to heal.
For the duration of the programme, you will additionally cut out red meat – organic or otherwise. Here’s why: red meat is high in arachidonic acid (omega-6) from the corn fed to produce bigger, fattier animals, and this promotes inflammation.
Alcohol and caffeine are both drugs – albeit legal ones – and they give your body something else to detoxify. Since we’re working to reduce your overall toxic load, taking these out of your diet – at least for these two weeks and maybe cutting right back after we’re finished – will be really helpful.
Trust the process. The recipes have been designed so that you won’t feel hungry. your body will be getting lots of lovely, real food, including plenty of ingredients that support your body in doing the clean-up work it needs to do. It’s the chance your body has been crying out for to heal!
